Introducing Frankie Rose Designs

I was recently in Sydney for a family Christening and managed to pop into Mathildas Markets in Paddington for a brief squizz at all the goodies on offer. There is some stunning talent in the handmade world for kids goodies, and adorable fashions most certainty were not lacking.

I was lucky enough to find Sydney designer Frankie Rose and immediately fell in love with her simple, practical but oh so adorable designs for both boys and girls.


After much searching I'm very happy to have found more boys lounge pants in funky fabrics and Frankie Rose has provided just the ticket, I especially love these gold fish numbers and hopefully many more will follow. I only have a few items this time, lounge pants, smocks and tunic tops, but will hopefully be bringing you more in the coming months.

Threadless Kids

Being a serial t-shirt wearing family I'm surprised I haven't stumbled across this before now. Threadless is a US based tshirt label company who really do produce designer shirts. except rather than be a designer label, the prints are designed by some pretty cool artists with their finger on the button of whats hot and funky in tshirt design.

There are several arms of the Threadless company brand, Threadless as they simply put "the best tshirts in the world"; Threadless Kids for your baby onesies and kids T and hoodeis; Typetees which is the best in slogan t design; and Select which are artist limited invite only designs.

T's start at US$18 each, but there are heaps on sale as well. Shipping to Australia from $9US

Girls are easy to buy for, don't you agree? But boys, how hard is it to find clothes, gifts, anything for them? It may be cause I have girls I find it easier, but my friends with boys are always commenting on how hard it is to find cool stuff for them. Update on all things Monkeytail....

I am the Queen of Multi-tasking today! I don't quite know what's gotten into me, but I'm updating this blog, cooking dinner (were having Tikka Masala tonight!!) and drinking a cup of coffee all at the same time!!! (the last one counts as a chore... can you remember the last time you got to finish a cup of coffee with toddlers at your feet?)

The Official Tooth Fairy Kits are so hot right now! We completely sold out of our new shipment over the weekend!!!! But never fear a requisition has been lodged with the Office of the Tooth Fairy for new kits to be sent STAT... in other words, they should be hear by the end of next week!

Thanks to everyone who Pre-ordered their Gucio Toddler Shoes. The order has been placed and we should have our shipment ASAP. I'll be getting in some of the most popular sizes and colours, so if you missed out, let me know and I'll reserve a pair for you if I can :)

I am unfortunately only up to page 28 of The Picture of Dorian Grey. Alas, my good intentions have been high jacked yet again... maybe I'll aim for a book every 2 months?

In other news, I've been worked on a few little ideas to bring some new funky products to the store and in particular update (read stock) our party section. So in my travels I've been catching up with some of my Etsy favourites and I wanted to share this little gem with you...

Also, an update on my self imposed book challenge... the first day I managed to read exactly nine and a half lines (yes, lines!!!!) thanks to a very stubborn two year old who refused to sleep in her new big girl bed!!

I'm now up to page 23, so not huge progress, but I'm slowly making a dent.

Seems the little ones have also caught the reading bug, Wellington was busted reading the Ikea catalogue on the toilet yesterday. She jumped so high when I asked her what she was up to she dropped the whole thing in the loo.... i nearly cried, I love the Ikea catalogue :(

The Fabulous Faubourg Saint Denis has Arrived

Faubourg Saint Denis is a fantastic new international children's label who launched their line at Bubble in NY last year, I think they are destined for big things judging from their fashion forward and funky style. I was so excited to receive our shipment last week that some items almost didn't make it into the shop. I though young Monkeytail and Wellington would look quite stylish in some groovy bermuda shorts! Here are a few pic's to wet your fancy and you can of course find them all in store now!

August already? Where did July go?

Can you believe that its August already? And now spring is almost upon us again. I don’t know about you, but I must have blinked and missed the first half of the year. Such a shame that the older we get, the faster time seems to pass, especially now we are prepared to appreciate it more.

Thanks to everyone who has supported Monkeytail and Wellington in its first full month of trading. It’s been very stressful, but very exciting. I’ve been so pleased to meet so many of you and receive all the wonderful feedback on the site and products. It was also great to meet everyone at the Strand Night Markets in Townsville last Friday night. It was a last minute decision to attend, but I think well worth it!

Our summer range of Monkey-Do stock is here. I met Jane of Monkey-Do at the Life in Style trade show in Sydney earlier this year and fell in love with the simple designs and luxurious fabrics that she uses in her designs. To me, this range epitomizes “celebrating kids being kids” because it is all about hanging out in your PJ’s! There are no gimmicks or advertising and kids look like kids in these clothes and not mini adults. All sweetness and innocence.

I’m most excited about our Little Hero capes, masks and power cuffs which arrived last week. Monkeytail and Wellington are exclusive stockists of this range in Australia and they really do look as good in the flesh as they do in the adorable photos. Young Wellington is a huge fan of her cape and only answers to Super Welli when she’s wearing it!

The other night Monkeytail wanted to watch a puppet show rather than read a bed time story. So, resourceful Dad pulled up You Tube and this is what he found... now you can imagine how our bedtime song goes!
