Book Week 2009 has now begun and runs to Friday 28th August. The theme this year is Book Safari and you can learn lots of details and find some great do at home activities on the Children's Book Council of Australia website. All the local libraries also have some great free activities planned and usually cater to all age groups.
Each day this week I'll bring you my top 10 book choices for board books the littlies, children's classics, our favourite picture books and great activity books suggestions. Plus some great links and suggestions on activities to keep you busy for book week. But first....
The Storyline Online website has short downloadable video footage of actors from the Screen Actors Guild in the US reading picture books aloud. You'll find the likes of James Earl Jones and Jason Alexander reading aloud to the illustrations and short animations. There are some much loved stories here too such as Stellaluna by Janelle Cannon and Wilfred Gordon Mcdonald Partridge by Julie Vivas. Useful for teachers as well, each story has a downloadable activity guide.
