Set your Piggies Free with Ziggy Marley

I was supposed to be posting a review for music month today.... but I got a little side tracked during the day and haven't finished it yet :o( Never fear, tomorrow is another day!!

But I did happen across this little gem today on the TV. Something funky is definitely happening over on Sesame Street these days. I was making sock monkeys this afternoon during quiet time, and I got just a little bit excited when the song on today's show was Ziggy Marley singing Set your Piggies Free. I instantly LOVE this song!!!

How times are changing on Sesame Street this year with celebrity's popping out everywhere, they are making a big move to cross over pop cultures (I think I posted something a while back on appropriate celebrities popping up?)

Anyway, here's another one, it's Feist with 1,2,3,4 (the Sesame Street take) on their hugely popular song from back in 2008.

Now, back to that review....

Lessons from Sesame Street

Have you noticed lately on Sesame Street all the celebrities that keep popping up telling us about different words and demonstrating their meanings? I don't know if it was just last season that they started this but they've definitely ramped it up for the 40th season let me tell you (seems everyone from Law and Order SVU had a go, and does anyone but me find it unusual that Ice-T would be an appropriate choice?)

Well it appears to be working! In one episode a couple of weeks ago David Beckham and Elmo explained the meaning of persistent. Now my 4 year old tells me she's not being annoying, she's being persistent when she asks for the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over...... if I ever see David Beckham or Elmo walking down the street, we'll be having stern words!

I started looking for the clip on You Tube, but I found this instead, it has no relevance other than the celebrity angle, but I nearly wet myself watching it.... is it just me or are Rickie Gervais just a little scary?

Sesame Street turns 40!

I remember getting in trouble in the second grade for having a "Sesame Street Education" because when I recited the alphabet I said "Zeee" and not "Zed"! and Mum tells me that whenever she turned on the TV when I was a kid I always thought it was time for Play School and Sesame Street, no matter what time of the day or night it was!

Now, I'm happy to tell people of my sesame street eduction and the fact that the Muppet's is my all time favourite TV show. Ella is in front of the box watching Play with me Sesame right now (excellent parenting!)

But when I opened up the google homepage today so see Cookie Monster starring back at me declaring Sesame Street was 40 yrs old! OMG. I just can't believe it. I still know all the songs, when I count something out for the girls I still do it like the Count does (One, Once chocolate cookie you can't have hahahahahah) and even though Baby Bear gives me an eye twitch I'll always have a soft spot for Grover (especially if he's got his Super Grover helmet on!)

Keep up the good work Sesame Street, you rock!
